Veganism, vegetarianism: vitamin B12 intake

If your child regularly consumes dairy foods and eggs (lacto-ovo-vegetarian), his vitamin B12 intake is sufficient. Otherwise, it is more vulnerable to vitamin B12 deficiency which is mainly found in animal foods. Soy formulas (soy), fortified cereals, yeasts, fortified soy or nut drinks are sources of vitamin B12. Additional charge may be required. Again, seek the advice of a healthcare practitioner. If the mother is vegan, breast milk may be very low in vitamin B12 and the infant should take a vitamin B12 supplement. It is recommended to include at least three servings per day of foods rich in vitamin B12 or to take a supplement of 5 µg to 10 µg of vitamin B12.
