The bananophobie

You would think it was a joke, just by the name, and yet! The fear of bananas is very real. The singer Louane suffers from it and she is not the only one. According to psychiatrists, this fear would come from a trauma linked to childhood.

The anthophobie

The xanthophobie

And maybe this is what can bring us back to bananophobia, the fear of the color yellow. Xanthophobia is a phobia to say the least unusual which leads to an avoidance of this color. Suffice to say that in everyday life, it is not an easy task.

The umbrophobie

Some people are afraid of the rain. This phobia can have different causes, starting with a trauma related to this type of weather, such as a flood. It can also bring up painful memories.

Ombrophobia falls into the category of phobias related to the elements and natural phenomena over which human beings have no control. Thus, we speak of arsonphobia or pyrophobia for the fear of fire, anemophobia for the fear of the wind, and barophobia for the fear of the earth, in other words of gravity. The fear of clouds, nephophobia, is similar to ombrophobia.

The pogonophobie

This irrational fear of beards can have different causes, starting with a trauma related to a bearded man in childhood for example.

L’omphalophobie

This phobia concerns the navel. It may be a primitive fear of separation from the mother. But it can also be linked to the mystery of this part of the body and to larger existential questions, which become unbearable for phobic people.

The trémophobie

It indicates the fear of trembling. Tremophobia can be linked to the fear of being sick and not being able to control your movements.

The sidérodromophobie

It concerns the fear of taking the train. Siderodromophobia (from the Greek sidero (iron), drome (race, movement)) thus prevents people with the disease from boarding a train, as aerophobia refers to the fear of flying. Transport is, in general, an important fear factor and the easiest to understand, because of its speed and the risks which, however small, exist. Thus, after a car accident, people cannot get back behind the wheel with peace of mind, even several years later.

 

How to overcome an unusual phobia?

Faced with fears that concern everyday life, undertaking work on yourself to no longer be phobic is important in order to live more serenely. For this, cognitive and behavioral therapy is essential. It makes it possible to understand where fear comes from and not to associate it with the object or the situation in question the better to get rid of it.

The prescription of drugs is rare in this type of pathology, apart from occasional anxiolytics or if the phobia leads to physical consequences.
